OVERVIEW
You will research both side of an identified issues.
After researching both sides, you will be given your side on the topic (Pro/Con.) You do NOT get to choose this. This will be assigned to you. You may end up arguing the side that you personally disagree with. This is good for you.
You will individually write an argumentative paper on your issue in which you use develop your claims and counterclaims fairly.
You will (with your partner) use your papers in order to prepare for a debate. You will debate two other students who were assigned the other side of the issue.
Four people in teams of two each will debate in front of the class.

Below are 12 possible topics. Each class will cover 8 topics. You will need to look through the list below and come up with your top 4 topic choices. I cannot promise you that you will get your top 4 but I will do my best.
